Lukashenko congratulated Baikal-Amur Mainline builders and railway workers on 50th anniversary of the launch of BAM construction

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated the builders, railway workers and all those engaged into the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline on the 50th anniversary of the start of the works, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

"BAM is a bright page in the life of several generations of Soviet people and one of the most ambitious projects in the history of mankind. Hundreds of thousands of real enthusiasts, despite the difficulties and harsh natural conditions, laid a railway track through mountain ranges, impassable taiga and permafrost zone. As time has shown, it has become a road to the future, which today connects many Russian regions and is an important factor in the development of Eastern Siberia and the Far East," the congratulatory message reads.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that about 60 thousand Belarusians were among representatives of other fraternal Soviet peoples taking an active part in the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, demonstrating to the whole world what real patriots united by a great goal are capable of. "Your labour exploits are a worthy example for the modern youth," the President stressed.

The Head of State wished the participants of the legendary construction site of different generations good health, happiness, well-being and success in all their endeavours.
