It is noted that in February 2024, the state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine amounted to 490.1bn Hryvnia, or $143.7bn in foreign currency equivalent. Of these, 69.7 per cent is external debt. At the same time, in the first two months of 2024, the debt in Hryvnia decreased by 0.5 per cent, and by 1.1 per cent in foreign currency. This is due to the lack of large external borrowings and fluctuations in exchange rates.

Danil Getmantsev noted that at the beginning of 2024, the debt dynamics remained restrained, but in March, when Ukraine attracted about $9bn in concessional loans, the growth of state debt would recover and accelerate significantly. Danil Getmantsev added that as long as the war continues, the state debt will continue to grow.
