Nutritionist: statements about danger of low-fat dairy products is a myth

It is believed that low-fat dairy products are harmful to humans, so it is worth giving up their use, but nutritionist Inna Rozhok disagrees

The expert dispelled all the myths associated with the use of low-fat dairy products on her TikTok account, stating, in particular, “It is believed that low-fat dairy products are harmful, but this is a myth. There are plenty of animal fats in the diet of modern humans. Milk fat is animal fat, so it makes sense to reduce its amount. In this case, low-fat foods will be a good option.”

There is an opinion that the use of low-fat dairy products contributes to poor absorption of calcium in the body, but Ms. Rozhok believes this is not true. “There is an opinion that calcium is not digested without fats, but the situation is different. Calcium with fat forms so-called calcium soaps, which are insoluble complexes. Therefore, calcium is excreted from the body, and it has even no chance to soak through. There is also more protein in low-fat foods. So, it’s better not to believe the myths: eat more low-fat dairy products instead,” she advised.
