Lukashenko on Ukraine peace talks: it’s possible to agree on the incredible with Russia
Any war ends in peace, and the war in Ukraine must be ended at the negotiating table – as stated by President Aleksandr Lukashenko during an interview with foreign and Belarusian media
In particular, the Belarusian Head of State noted, “Many people say that they would achieve the defeat of Russia. I respond in a simple way: miracles can happen, that Russia will not win. But Russia will never lose a war. The Americans were the first to say that there has never been and never will be a nuclear power, the strongest in the world, losing this war. If you continue to escalate, it will end badly. There is always someone to talk about peace. I am convinced that this dialogue should be conducted with the military of Ukraine.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian military have a point of view that is different from the point of view of politicians and President Zelenskyy, “The upcoming, as many already say, reshuffles in the military bloc are just talking about this. The most professional military in Ukraine are most convinced that the war must be stopped. The Russians will have to negotiate with the Ukrainian military. The military understand this, and they will be able to agree. I’ll tell you that it’s possible to agree on the incredible with Russia, but steps must be taken in this direction and preconditions shouldn’t be set before sitting down at the negotiating table. Moreover, Zelenskyy should not run around Western Europe, asking for fighter jets and long-range MLRS, but should think about how to end the war so that another 200-300 thousand Ukrainians do not die. Zelenskyy must understand that he is the president, this is his country, and an independent policy must be pursued. If you can’t, then others will do this. The main thing is that any war ends in peace. Let’s finish it now.”
