The Head of State stressed, “The system of ensuring Belarus’ national security, taking into account the current realities, objectively cannot remain unchanged, and a new point will supplement it: nuclear deterrence. Those who pushed us towards it should be aware of this and reasonably look at the unambiguous consequences of their, to put it mildly, careless decisions. We have learned the lessons not only of Ukraine. We have learned the lessons of the Great Patriotic War well – especially of its initial stage, when we were appeasing those who had attacked us, were afraid to say a word so as not to inspire their activity at the border. What did we get as a result? They came close to Moscow in less than six months. This is a lesson for us. Therefore, we submit the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine of Belarus for approval by Belarusian People's Congress. These documents reflect key changes in the global military-political situation, national views on maintaining international peace and stability, ensuring the military security of our country and its armed protection. The provisions on social harmony, inviolability of the foundations of democracy and the rule of law are included.”
